This course views the informed study of the New Testament and the careful reading of thoughtful scholarly writings about the New Testament as a spiritual discipline. The course introduces students to the basic content of the New Testament writings, the historical circumstances from which they emerged, various critical methods for interpreting them (including exegetical skills), and the ways in which these texts might shape the understandings and lives of contemporary Christian Faith communities.
